Postage stamps have been issued in Serbia on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the birth of the great Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli.

According to information provided by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Serbia, the initiative for issuing and releasing the stamps was undertaken with the support of the Embassy. The postage stamps issued by “Srbijamarka” bear the inscriptions “140th anniversary of Uzeyir Hajibeyli” and “Azerbaijani composer, founder of opera in the East.” At the center of the stamp is a depiction of the bust of the great composer U. Hajibeyli, erected in 2011 in the Serbian city of Novi Sad.

The issuance of the postage stamps is part of a series of events organized by the Embassy to promote the heritage of Uzeyir Hajibeyli in Serbia. It should also be noted that, with the organizational support of the Embassy, the article about the eminent composer in the world’s largest online encyclopedia, Wikipedia, has been expanded and made available to readers in Serbian.
