Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh Street in Belgrade
In accordance with Presidential Decree by Ilham Aliyev on celebration of 90th anniversary of Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh, a prominent Azerbaijani poet, the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on the base of initiative of Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Belgrade and Azerbaijanis who live in Serbia, addressed Belgrade City Mayor’s Office in an attempt of popularization of the memory about this outstanding poet across such a friendly state and strategic partner of Azerbaijan like Serbia and naming a street in Belgrade in honor of Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh. In this regard, Belgrade City Mayor’s Office and the Parliament made a decision to name a street that stretches from Tsrnotravske till the crossroads of Borska and Pere Velemirovic in honor of our beloved poet Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh at the assembly dated 23 June 2015. It is worth stating, that the street above is located in immediate neighborhood of the Embassy of Azerbaijan and one of the most fashionable districts of Belgrade. Positive response by Belgrade City Mayor’s Office to the application of the Embassy of Azerbaijan about naming the street is, undoubtedly, a graph evidence of purposeful and successful policy by Azerbaijan and, of course, another proof of growing influence of our country across Western Balkans and Serbia as well as a sign of high-level relations between Azerbaijan and our friend and strategic partner-Serbia. Particular attention to the loving memory of the decent son of Azerbaijani people and patriotic poet, the representative of our culture, Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh in anticipation of his 90th anniversary should be considered as a sign of respect and appreciation and, in general, this fact will definitely contribute to popularization of rich cultural heritage of our Native Land worldwide, in particular in Western Balkans and Serbia as a raising power of the region as well as intensification of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia.
